That’s some good advice right there.

I am still not dead.

Unfortunately I still haven’t had surgery either, I am on a list. Socialized healthcare is pretty much the best thing ever (we have a private system too for those who have the money), but the waiting is the downside.

On the plus side it turns out I’m not in too much danger, it just hurts, which still sucks but pain is much easier to ignore when you know that the information your body is sending you is less ‘you’re going to die’ and more ‘you’re going to be grumpy for a bit’.

I wish I had a better handle on what was going on out in the world when it comes to Lovecraft stuff. That said, I have caught up with the trailer for The Void  (do NOT open that at work) and it looks like HP Lovecraft and John Carpenter had an especially unsettling, slightly gooey baby.

Cassandra Khaw’s second book in the Rupert Wong series is out now. It’s called Rupert Wong and the Ends of the Earth and I highly recommend it. If you haven’t read the first one, Rupert Wong: Cannibal Chef you can find it here. They’re both really good, and not for those weak of stomach.

Khaw has a talent for making literal human food sound both horrific and sort of delicious, and approaches the supernatural world she’s created from a very different angle to most. You end up kind of liking the titular cannibal chef despite the fact that he does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin.

So Fhtagnauts, what’s happening out there in the world (other than madness, fire and death)? Anything good?

Until next time may your enemies never know where that smell is coming from.
