Hi folks, due to circumstances beyond our control the comic is going to be a little bit late this week. In the mean time I thought I’d bust out my emergency comic. I try and have one of these lurking around for those times where we have schedule slip. It’s a homage to Tolkien, Gary Larson and The Far Side and a brutal reminder of why I don’t draw Cthulhu Slippers myself.

A couple of book recommendations:

Under the Empyrean Sky by Chuck Wendig. I just finished the second book in the trilogy that starts with Under The Empyrean Sky. It’s not horror, let alone cosmic horror, in fact the best way to describe it is as Wendig himself put it ‘cornpunk’. So why mention it? Well there’s something about the corn that covers the Heartland that the main character’s live in. Almost as if the corn is thinking for itself…

Dreams and Shadows by C. Robert Cargill is another book which seems on the face of it not to have much to do with Lovecraft or the Mythos, yet scratch the surface of C. Robert Cargill’s debut novel, and it’s follow up The Queen of The Dark Things, and you’ll find themes of unknowable intelligences, powerful non-human races, the folly of magic and the cost of power. If you’re not in the mood for a full blown descent into madness ala The Croning and want something lighter then I highly recommend these two books.

I also have to link to possibly the most disturbing thing I’ve heard in many months: The Theme to Spongebob Squarepants slowed down 800 times. Listen to that and it will forever haunt your dreams…

I hope to see you in a day or two with a proper comic in hand.
